LAFFAN
In reference to the original inspiration of a spoon, the leaf,
its organic shape is incorporated into the design.
Another influence was a traditional Chinese soup spoon
with its wide scoop and high swept handle.
By changing only a few parameters the second spoon originated from the first spoon, the Leaf Spoon. With it’s wide ladle and slim handle the original inspirations become visible.
3D printed from strong and flexible PA, it shares the property of translucency with the leaf. With respect to the light transmittance, the printing material (filament) used is similar to porcelain. Smoothing out the surface gave it a soft grip.

The final results of this project are two spoons that represent the derivation of the original spoon. The first spoon was what I called the Leaf Spoon for its characteristic impetus that shows in the lateral profile.
